Posting and Paying for Campaign Signs

Fellow Dems,

As you may have noticed, candidates for the other team have put out their campaign signs all around the county this weekend.   It’s time for our team to make our move.

We need you help in one of two ways: sign placement or recovering the cost.

We have both home yard signs and highway 4’X8’ signs for our three local candidates and Mrs. Clinton and we need to get them placed ASAP.   If you live in a high visibility location in your neighborhood, please send your request for a home yard sign to [email protected].    If you know of any land suitable for a highway 4’X8’ sign that is legally accessible and in a high visibility location, please provide the location information to Chairman Young, [email protected]

As with previous campaigns, all these signs have been paid for by either the candidates or your county party.  Since the Democratic party and its candidates are dependent on donationS to pay for these signs, make a donation to one, or more, of the following:

Volunteer to Get Out The Vote (GOTV)

Join your county team and help elect Democrats in Galveston county. We have new leadership and the Galveston County Democratic Party is in charge of it's county-wide effort.

For phone banking, we will provide training, scripts and phone lists. All you need to do is bring yourself, your cell phone, and your phone charger. (All voter lists provided must be returned before you leave.)

If you are qualified, you can use your computer instead of the phone lists. Just bring your laptop and you can use our virtual phone bank internet application to make calls and record your results real-time. You still need to bring your phone and chargers.

For block walking, which will start in October, we will provide training and materials for canvassing those who told us they will vote Democrat and reminding them, in person, to go vote.

Galveston County 2016 Election Effort Status

The Galveston County 2016 Election Campaign has been underway for a few weeks now.   Local candidates have been campaign for months.  GOTV fund raising was started late last year and is active right now:
And, there is a lot to do between now and election day.

Under our new county leadership, a biweekly meeting is held where we budget and plan our election campaign.  This meeting includes reps for the clubs, our local candidates or their Reps, and Reps from various Dem leaning organizations.

We have an active field operation that is in it's third week.  At this time, we are phone banking twice a week to build our volunteer team.   During early voting and on election day, we will be block walking to GOTV.
We are also planning signage, mailers, and fund raisers to pay for our budgeted activities.

At each club meeting, John Young provides updates on what we have completed and what is planned.

Election 2016 Vote By Mail Fund Raiser

Help Expand Use of Democratic Mail-in Ballots for November Election

Deadline for Contributions: 9/15/2016

Last year we raised over $4,100 to send out applications to senior Democrats across the county so they could easily apply to vote by mail. The success of this effort was demonstrated by the number of mail-in ballots submitted for the Texas primary - we sent shock waves through the county and city governments with the increased volume of applications and then matched the number of Republican mail-in ballots during the primary.

It’s time to further expand our voting impact in Galveston county. The November election needs Democratic votes more than ever to tell our elected officials we want something done about the decades of economic, social, racial, and environmental injustices perpetrated by the Republicans and their excessively wealthy friends. This is especially true in Texas.

The Texas Democratic Party has launched a second phase of this campaign to grow the number of Democrats voting by mail. Our goal is to reach an additional 8,265 Democratic seniors, which we can do for the bargain price of $3,500, thanks to the bulk printing and mailing provided by the TDP. Remember, our path to victory depends on getting our Democratic base, and those who lean Democratic, to VOTE!

As you did so generously before the primary election, please help with our latest county effort to Get Out The Vote (GOTV) by contributing either by check or ActBlue no later than 9/15/2016:

(Note: We have already recieved a dollar-for-dollar match of up to $1,000.00.   Become an early contributor to make sure we get this match.)

Help Fund Galveston County Primary Mail-In Ballot Postage

This coming January, we hope to mail out over 50,000 applications to Galveston County seniors and others who have difficulties with in-person voting. This application will make sure they get a mail-in ballot for every 2016 election. These application will only be sent to Democrats or those likely to vote democratic and the county party needs your help to pay the postage.

We can win elections if we get out the vote and, for many, a mail-in ballot is the only option left after all our new Texas restrictions on voting.

Maximizing voter turnout will only happen when we maximize the opportunity for voting by mail. Just compare the 2010 and 2014 off-year elections and you find the following:

- Change in total votes cast across Texas: down by 0.9%
- Change in total mail-in ballots for Texas: up by 56.2%

This change was greatly affected by the mail in ballot applications sent by the Democratic party in 2014.

Please help us maximize Democratic voter turnout for all of 2016. Contribute what you can to help reach our goal of $2,000 by the end of November. All funds collected will pay for mailing the applications in January.

You have two options for making a donation: ActBlue or writing a check and sending it to our new county PO Box.
